Peri-menopause, with its fluctuating hormone levels, increases stress and can heighten anxiety, insomnia and fatigue. Stress usually occurs when we are in a situation that seems too demanding or overwhelming and we think we don't have the personal resources to cope with it, which then adds to the stress. Adrenaline courses through our bodies, our breathing becomes faster and more shallow and our muscles tense to help the body fight or run. Over time this stress response can build up and adversely affect our health and wellbeing.
Take this opportunity to find a sense of mental ease and physical grounding with calming, gentle vinyasa-flow movement, restorative inversions, relaxing breathing practices and mindful meditation so you can rest in stillness and accept the changes taking place

AT DAMERHAM VILLAGE HALL
West Park Lane

Menopause can leave us feeling sluggish and lethargic, experiencing anhedonia and a loss of joy and zest for life. Weight gain is common, especially around the midriff area, which puts pressure on the heart. Obesity, clinical depression and low self-esteem can all lead to long-term health risks. Physical activity is nature's anti-depressant, it regulates weight, reenergises us and improves cognitive function as we age.
Rebalance and reenergise with a dynamic hatha sequence (suitable for all abilities) aimed at invigorating your metabolism, increasing bone density and strengthening muscles to reduce the risk of osteoporosis, toning the waist and midriff to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, lifting low mood and promoting a more positive mind-body relationship .
The MY sequence can be practiced at any time during the menopause.
What you can expect:
-
A women's circle where you can talk, share ideas, listen, ask questions and discover what other women have found that works for them
-
An energising yoga practice (suitable for all abilities) designed to lift the mood, strengthen the body, raise the heart rate, invigorate the metabolism and leave women feeling empowered and embodied
-
Breathing practices, affirmations and meditations you can use to lift the mood and feel empowered
-
Journal writing
